The authorities of the Jammu University have expressed their inability in releasing the two months ‘agitation period’ salaries of the contractual and daily wagers employees working in the varsity.

When asked, a senior administrative official told KTNS that during ‘Jammu agitation’ varsity remained closed. “How can we release their salaries when they never came in the university during this period,” added the officials.

Well informed sources told KTNS that most of the departments in the varsity have got their salaries for the two months agitation period released for the contractual and daily wager employees from ‘local funds’ including College Development fund.

Sources said that ‘local funds’ are managed by the concerned departments themselves. Those daily wagers and contractual employees whose salaries were released from the ‘Payment Seat Fund’ have not received salaries of two months, sources informed. They said that employees have requested authorities for number of times through different channels but nothing was done.

Sources said that majority of the daily and contractual employees are already living a miserable life adding, “We were hopeful but authorities are not interested in addressing our sufferings”.
